Nigerians hit by cuts in US visa duration

The United States has announced comprehensive changes to its non -immigrant visa policy for Nigeria, as it has cut off the period and conditions in which most Nigerian travelers can enter the country.

As of July 8, the US State Department says that all non -immigrant and irregular visas that have been issued to Nigerian citizens will now be released and effective for only three months.

Nigeria was the seventh largest exporter for international students in the United States, and the highest in Africa, according to the 2012 Doors report on international educational exchanges.

The report published by the US State Department, the Office of Educational and Cultural Affairs, showed a 13.5 % increase from 2023.
